Some favorite pictures

I caught this double rainbow several years ago..
looks like early spring from the look of the trees.

Moonbeam coreopsis.
Coneflower.
Woodland flox,
( I know that is not how you spell it,
but I am having a senior moment ).
Corrections welcomed!

My nephew Stephen came over to help me get mulch down in my flower beds. What a great help he was. Here he is taking a well deserved break with Pepper. Pepper was not as much of a helper...she kept dropping her tennis ball in the middle of the mulch for one of us to throw...

I stopped counting the number of carts we filled with WEEDS!!!

New member of the pack!

Fargo has arrived... That is the name Garland & I finally arrived at....Carol & I drove 3+ hours to Rixeyville, VA to pick him up on Monday 4/25 from Bridget. She has been raising border collies for over 20 years. She has such a wonderful kennel. Fargo had a good trip home.
No vomiting accidents!

We picked him from his litter because of the unusual white design on the back of his neck.
sort of a zigzag....hense his kennel name Zoro.

So far he and big sister, Pepper are getting along great..

just need to convince Wilhelmina the cat that he is OK!

In just about 4 weeks we will bringing home
another member of the Newton/Fensterer house hold.
This sweet little guy is a border collie and will be the little brother to Pepper,
our 9 month old female border collie.
We haven't decided on a name yet. We want to wait and see what his personality is like.
He comes from the same breeder, Faith Ridge Border Collies as Pepper.
They are located in Rixeyville, Va.
Bridget is wonderful to work with. She has such beautiful dogs.
You can check out her web page at www.faithridgebordercollies.com .

Visit with Jessica

My daughter-in-law Jessica was on the east coast
for training and was able to get up to Halifax
for a quick visit in March.

Pepper & Jess had plenty of play time.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
No, it's Sean dressed as Superman!

The weather was really nice
and we were able to get outside and practice with Pepper.
Jessica helped Garland with Pepper's SAR training.
(Search & Rescue)

No, this is not part of SAR work,
more like a Ninja Warrior.
Is this what Jessica was practicing in Norfolk?

Taking a break from our walk in the woods.

Jessica showing off her running shoes and tattoo.
Those things do not look comfortable!

Daffodils & Pets

The first flowers in my garden to bloom are the daffodils.
The squirrels do not like the bulbs,
I think they are poison to them.
I do not plant tulips because the squirrels
really like eating the bulbs.
The deer have been in the yard more this year,
since Emma is not around to chase them away.
The deer have been grazing
on iris greens,
hollyhock greens and
anything else that is tasty to them.
Darn those deer!

Pepper and Wilhelmina are enjoying
the afternoon sun and warmth.
They are not too concerned
about deer or any other rodents in the yard.

Everything greens up so quickly.
This garden will look different in just a couple weeks.

I know spring has arrived when the WEEDS take over!

Now that the weather has warmed up,
I can get outside to start cleaning up
the yard and flower beds.
First job is always the weeds!
It is always best after we have had some rain,
makes is easier to pull those stubborn fellows out.

This is just the beginning......
