more with Jess & Sean

Chocolate Mousse Cake...

Ravioli, baked brie and seared tuna....

It was a wonderful visit with the kids...
I will miss them...
but will be making plans for San Diego!
LOVE YOU BOTH!!!

Visit with Sean & Jessica

I made a very quick trip to Columbia, MD to see Sean & Jess before they head west.. Up Saturday and back Sunday, less than 24 hours...

We packed alot into those hours.. after watching the U.S. get beat in soccer we went over to the athletic club pool for a cooling off..see the kids AC is broken, which really was not a problem for me as we have not had AC at home all summer...

Saturday evening we went to historic Ellicott City for dinner at the brewery.

We couldn't pass up the desserts..chocolate mousse cake, berry cake & Irish Coffee.

after dinner we walked down to the bottom of the street & back. This is the historic section and all the buildings were very interesting.. We even walked past a group on a GHOST TOUR! It was all I could do not to join them....

Then it was back to the house to watch the movie 2012...
Sunday the three of us had a nice breakfast
at Bob Evans before I headed back to Halifax
Ok, so what is worse,
finding a snake under the house or a snakeskin?
I would say that a snakeskin is worse,
because that snake is still around somewhere and now is
LARGER!
Garland found this one last week
under the house when he was
getting the air conditioning vents hooked up....

This makes the 3rd snake sighting so far this summer...

The Man & his Dog

Have you ever noticed how pet owners begin to take on the characteristics of their pets...or is it the other way around?

That's the thing about gardens....plants pop up just about anywhere...the birds drop seeds, especially sunflowers and before long your garden looks totally different! Just when you think you have it the way you want, the moles come along and re-landscape for you! It's dynamic, constantly evolving, and wonderful!

Good morning everyone, I am finally getting my home blog started..I was inspired by my daughter-in-law Jessica to start one about family, gardens (past & present) and pets (past & present.) Anyone who has a garden knows how dynamic they are, constantly changing from day to day, month to month, year to year. Whether intentional or by God's handiwork.

My love for flowers began when I was a teenager. I took an after school job at the local flower shop, Glen Head Flower Shop. It was a part time job that grew into full time after high school graduation and lasted till 1983-84. And of course my Dad loved his vegetable gardens, which we all helped with. There were also some beautiful rose shrubs that hung over the split rail fence on Glenwood Road, they would bloom every Memorial Day in time for the community parade and Mom's birthday.

So, begins my blogging journey....Garland & I also have a blog for our camping adventures...
